Along with the rest of the country, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day was celebrated at Blood Bank District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) on Sunday. Addressing the gathering on the significance of the day, in-charge of the DHD Blood Bank, Dr. Temsu urged more people to actively participate in blood donation, emphasizing that it can save precious lives. \u201cBe there for someone else, give blood, share life\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He revealed that on average, blood bank collects between 800 to 900 units of blood each month, however the unexpected surge in dengue cases had put the department on alertness.
He therefore implored people not to wait for outbreaks but to proactively step forward and contribute. He expressed hope that dengue cases would see a decline by October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Temsu further acknowledged the crucial support of civil society, underlining that without it the blood bank would cease to function. The event also saw the acknowledgment of 16 CSOs and NGOs, each receiving a designation reflecting their contributions, namely, Dimapur Gorkha Union as \u201cpioneers\u201d, Shree Agarwal Mahasabha as \u201cThe parents\u201d, Server club as \u201cServing people\u201d, Sovima Village as \u201cThe first village with blood facility\u201d, Dimapur Bongs as \u201cTo help the helpless\u201d, HDFC Bank as \u201cThe golden bankers\u201d, Rotary Club as \u201cSelfless Internationally\u201d, JCI as \u201cLadies with inner beauties\u201d, Red Cross as \u201cThe life link between donor and patient\u201d, Network of blood donors as \u201cThe network with golden hearts\u201d, Muslim Council as \u201cThe council with sympathy\u201d, Trinity Theological College as \u201cTheology in human way\u201d, Haemophilia society as \u201cTiny but huge hearts\u201d, Maharsi Sadguru Shadap Haldev Asram Dhobinala as \u201cSelfless teachers\u201d, Marwari Yuva Munch as \u201cThe young hearts with charity\u201d and DAYO as \u201cThe Lions with charitable hearts\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, executive member, Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO), Abenjang Ao, in his short message emphasized the pivotal role of civil society in blood banking, stressing that blood transcends all boundaries and knows only humanity. He urged every citizen to participate in blood donation and contribute to save life.
He also assured the audience of DAYO\u2019s commitment to establish a dedicated cell for blood donation.
Earlier, representatives from Shree Agarwal Mahasabha, Red Cross Dimapur, Dimapur Bongs, and Muslim Council Dimapur, shared brief accounts of their respective journeys with the blood bank and their involvement in blood donations. Altogether 70 units were collected till the time of filing this report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KOHIMA:<\/strong> In Kohima, the day was observed at Kohima College, Kohima. The program was organized by the Voluntary Blood Donors Association Kohima in collaboration with Kohima College, Kohima Blood Centre (NHAK), India Red Cross Society (Nagaland Branch), NSBTC, and Government of Nagaland with MLA 9th Kohima Town AC, Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso as special guest,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his address, Dr. Rhutso emphasized the importance of blood donation and encouraged students to come forward and participate. He announced that individuals who donated blood on the day will receive one-time free consultation for up to one year at his KOHIMAS hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
General secretary of VBDAK, Meghraj Lama emphasized the significance of the day, highlighting its role in promoting voluntary blood donation and its core objectives.
On the occasion coupons were distributed, allowing donors to enjoy free coffee (one-time) at \u0113t\u0113 Coffee, Kohima valid for one year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Co-Owner of Imprint, Lelo Mero also announced a special concession for VBDAK, stating that any print-related work within the budget of Rs. 2000 would be provided free of cost by the Imprint team.
The program featured a special performance by Joshua Shohe and welcome address by Keneilesa Neikha, vice principal of Kohima College, Kohima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, the programme started with an invocation by Viserenuo
assistant professor, KCK and vote of thanks by Burakum Ao, executive member of VBDAK. A total of 20 individuals donated blood, while 51 underwent blood grouping during the program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
