{"id":38113,"date":"2017-03-05T00:49:04","date_gmt":"2017-03-05T00:49:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2017\/03\/05\/cntc-slams-mainland-media-women-activists\/"},"modified":"2017-03-05T00:49:04","modified_gmt":"2017-03-05T00:49:04","slug":"cntc-slams-mainland-media-women-activists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2017\/03\/05\/cntc-slams-mainland-media-women-activists\/","title":{"rendered":"CNTC slams mainland media, women activists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) in a statement has defended the statement made by its president Hokiye Yeptho to media persons (mainland journalists) in which the reports had been twisted and distorted to \u201csensationalise views and opinions.<\/div>\n<div>CNTC said such misreporting by mainland journalists was not a new thing since \u201cbeing one-sided, partial and biased has been their hallmark.\u201d&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>CNTC also advised some youths to first study their cultural history and genealogy before going to the press to gain cheap publicity and attention. It also cautioned such youths to first understand their own traditions and customs as practised by their forefathers since time immemorial.<\/div>\n<div>CNTC said by ridiculing and mocking at leaders and elders without having any basic knowledge or understanding has become a part of life with some youths who only want to hog the limelight.<\/div>\n<div>In this regard, CNTC urged the respective tribal hohos to restrain such youths.<\/div>\n<div>Drawing attention on \u201csome women activists\u201d CNTC said instead of atoning for their wrongdoings amid the chaos, these women were still \u201chell bent\u201d and doing whatever means possible to \u201caccelerate their campaign outside Nagaland to non-Nagas who have no iota of knowledge about our Naga customs and traditions.\u201d&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;CNTC also cautioned some women married to non-Nagas and settled abroad, to \u201cstop their not much needed comments and off-track opinions which will only foment more trouble in the state again.\u201d&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>It said that unlike other states in India, Naga women do not face gender discrimination like female foeticide, child marriage, dowry etc\u201d as Naga women were given equal privilege in every field and do not need reservation since they are free to contest any election. CNTC said if such women really wanted to change Naga society then they should return home and begin grass root work instead of harping about change from within the confines of the four walls in far away foreign nations\u201d.
