As part of phase-I agitation, students of Sao Chang College under the aegis of Chang Wedoshi Setchang (Chang Students Conference) took out protest march wearing black clothes in Tuensang on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On October 11 last, CWS announced its decision to initiate phase-I agitation by shutting down Sao Chang College, Tuensang starting October 12, till their demands were fulfilled. The demands among others include deployment of principal, teaching faculties, allocate college bus, upgrade science laboratory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students marched from Tower Clock till DC office holding placards some of which read \u201cIgnoring us won\u2019t educate the present and future\u201d, \u201cSave our future, save education\u201d, \u201cTomorrow is too late\u201d, \u201cIf you won\u2019t listen, we will make you hear us\u201d, \u201cour future is created by what we do today, not tomorrow\u201d, \u201cwe stand because we care\u201d etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CWS president C.Pongsu Chang told Nagaland Post that the union held a video conference with department on Monday led by commissioner and secretary higher education Anenla T.Sato. However, he said the meeting remained inconclusive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since the department failed to provide concrete assurance to its demands, the union president said they would wait till October 17, 2023 and launch phase-II agitation starting October 18 if the department failed to give positive response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CWS president said that science stream was introduced 18 years ago, but there are no major subjects because of the lack of teachers. As per Nagaland University guidelines, he pointed out that there should be five professors, but so far the college has only one or two professors for one subject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said they had been quiet because there were less students before and also with hope the department will do something.
