SJC: <\/strong>A two-day national seminar on \u201csustainable development: prospects and challenges\u201d was organised by the department of economics, St. Joseph\u2019s College (Autonomous) Jakhama on November 10-11 at the College Auditorium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The seminar, intended to spark conversation and educate the students about sustainable development and its various facets in India and the north-east, was attended by SJU staff and students and more than 50 speakers and educators from various academic disciplines across the country. Speaking at the inaugural programme as the guest of honour, commissioner, T. Mabemo Yanthan highlighted the importance of such a seminar to inspire and to brainstorm for ideas. He further discussed about the various sustainable growth in terms of the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keynote speaker, head department of economics Mizoram University, Tanhril, Aizawl, Mizoram, professor Giribabu M highlighted issues and untapped resources of sustainable development pertaining in the northeast region and Nagaland. He also highlighted the various challenges to sustainable growth of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Guest speaker, Lt. Col. Sunil Kumar, Chakabama, Military Station spoke on the topic, \u201cIndian Army and Nation Building,\u201d highlighting the importance of nation building and how Indian army contributes towards social integration and security. The inaugural programme was followed by technical sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DMI SJGS: <\/strong>As part of their annual educational tour, students of grade IX and X from DMI St Joseph Global School accompanied by the principal Dr. C Marianathan, Sr. Punita DMI, and subject teachers, on November 11 went on a trip to the World War II Cemetery and Catholic Cathedral in Kohima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
JBS: <\/strong>Khonoma St. John Bosco School (JBS) celebrated combined Parents\u2019 Day cum Children\u2019s Day on November 11, wherein the school children honoured their parents and parental figures who play a significant role in their lives. JBS principal, Rev. Fr. Solomon Vizo and Rev. Fr. C. Joseph addressed the gathering. The programme was attended by parents, invitees, church leaders, pastors and grandparents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SJC: <\/strong>Department of mathematics, St. Joseph\u2019s college (A) Jakhama in collaboration with the commission for education, Diocese of Kohima (CEDOK), organised the second \u201cAll Nagaland state level math quiz competition\u201d for the students of class 10 on November 10. Altogether 14 schools participated in the competition, where Ankush Chakraborty and Pabitra Deb of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur were awarded the first prize. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
NBHM:<\/strong> In prelude to the \u201c5th Edition of Nagaland Honey Bee Day 2023,\u201d scheduled to be celebrated on December 5, a painting competition for school students of Dimapur and Ch\u00fcmoukedima was organised by the Nagaland Bee Keeping & Honey Mission (NBHM) on November 10 at its Multi Utility Centre, 6th Mile, Sovima village, Ch\u00fcmoukedima. NBHM said the event was also aimed at creating awareness on the importance of bee-keeping and the role that honey bees play in the society. A total of 24 students from 12 schools participated in the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the occasion, NBHM deputy team leader, Khuvozoyi Vese mentioned that bees are the only insect species that provide the utmost service to humanity and its survival. In the context of Nagaland state, Vese noted that bee-keeping has become one of the best revenue generating sources for the farmers, noting that the state was able to produce about 440 metric tonnes annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first position of the competition was bagged by Moalemla Longkumer from Hollotoli School while Sudip Bisaws) from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School and Linali Sumi from Delhi Public School secured the second and third positions respectively. Three students, Tolla Imlong from Maple Tree School, Aswaria Bahattacharjee from Holy Cross Higher Secondary School and Tinghoithing Hansing from Delhi Public School, were declared consolation winners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
