Awareness cum distribution of community assets programme was organized by Kohima Forest Division on March 19 at Range Office Kohima. The programme was mainly organized to strengthen and build up the capacity of local institutions such as the JFMCs, Village councils, Women Groups etc.  Issues related to protection and conservation of forest, wild life and forest fire management were discussed and deliberated during the function.<\/div>\n
 DFO Kohima Rongsenlemla Imchen (IFS), in her address, thanked the community for cooperating with the department and highlighted the importance of the local community\u2019s role in protecting and conserving forests and the environment. Dr. Kenei Miachieo (IFS), CF (STC) who was a special invitee to the programme, exhorted the gathering to be emissaries of change for forest conservation. He highlighted the relation between the land use pattern and its effect on the environment and also how to improvise upon it for positive and sustainable results.<\/span><\/div>\n
Mesenchu and Paul, from JFMC New Tesophenyu and Kandiyu respectively, spoke on behalf of the local community wherein both of them appreciated the department for its initiatives towards raising environmental awareness in the region and they also pledged to protect the environment. The invocation prayer was said by Neitsolie Sanchu , Dy. Ranger and the vote of thanks was proposed by Jweni Semp, Ranger. Barbed wires and plastics chairs were distributed among the JFMC\u2019s and SHG\u2019s under the FDA Scheme.<\/span><\/div>\n
The program was attended by Kohima Forest officials, local functionaries, JFMC\u2019s, Women Group and SHG\u2019s of 18 villages covering Kohima, Tseminyu and Chiephobozou range under Kohima Division.<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
