{"id":39458,"date":"2016-12-23T00:29:28","date_gmt":"2016-12-23T00:29:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2016\/12\/23\/model-code-of-conduct-for-kmc-areas-in-force\/"},"modified":"2016-12-23T00:29:28","modified_gmt":"2016-12-23T00:29:28","slug":"model-code-of-conduct-for-kmc-areas-in-force","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2016\/12\/23\/model-code-of-conduct-for-kmc-areas-in-force\/","title":{"rendered":"Model code of conduct for KMC areas in force"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/><\/p>\n<div>A day after State Election Commission (SEC) declared that the general election to municipal councils and town councils in the state would be held on February 1, 2017, the model code of conduct for 19 wards under Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) area has come into force, with effect from December 22. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>According to DIPR report, returning officer Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) and ADC Kohima, notified that the model code of conduct will remain till the completion of all election process of KMC. The notification would be applicable to all political parties, candidates and the State government machinery under KMC. Earlier, SEC while announcing the date for civic polls had notified that the mode of conduct would come into operation with immediate effect within the entire municipal and town council areas going to poll.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Therefore, to ensure compliance of the model code of conduct, a Coordination Committee has also been constituted for the upcoming KMC election. The committee is headed by DC Kohima as convener and representative of Police; GBs from each ward under KMC; Returning Officer, Kohima; Asst. election officer, DPRO, representatives of political parties- NPF, INC and BJP as members. &nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Apart from model code of conduct, the committee will also consider any matter or issue suggested by any member, for free and fair election. &nbsp;Meanwhile, the first meeting of the \u201cCoordination Committee\u201d has been convened on January 2, 2017 at 12 noon at the conference hall of DC, Kohima. &nbsp;All responsible have been asked to attend the meeting.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div>Nominations for KMC: Returning Officer (RO), KMC Lithrongla Tongpi has notified nominations of a member to the 19 wards under Kohima municipality. &nbsp;Nomination papers can be delivered by the candidate or his proposer to the Municipal Returning Officer\/Assistant Returning Officer at DC office Kohima between 11 am and 3 pm on any day (other than public holiday) from January 3 to January 7, 2017; forms can be obtained at the place and times aforesaid and nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny on January 10, 2017 at DC office Kohima. For withdrawal of candidature, the notice can be delivered by a candidate or his proposer or his election agent to the office specified in paragraph (2) above at his\/her office latest by January 17, 2017 before 3pm.
