In comparison with the invasion of who wins elections, in Nagaland the short of development cannot be the single role model, it needs to be seen in the light of how developed countries are in deeps hope with regard to involvement in bringing out a social transformation On the first anniversary of the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24,2023, India once again abstained on voting on a resolution adopted by a majority that calls for Russia to withdraw its military and urged a “comprehensive, just and lasting peace”. The UN also demanded “that the Russian Federation immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw all of its military forces from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders” and called for a cessation of hostilities. India’s stand vis-à-vis UN resolution on Russia is shaped by its domestic interests. Indo-Russian ties have been as long as 75 years and withstood the tests of time. Most importantly, Russia is also India’s largest arms supplier even though its share has dropped in recent years largely due to Delhi’s decision to boost domestic defence manufacturing. That having been said, the India is also an applicant for permanent membership to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) with veto power. By abstaining from voting six times over the Russian invasion of Ukraine, India’s failure to uphold fundamental human rights and international norms of sovereignty to curry favor with Russia is likely to tarnish its image further. By being neutral when it is about whether the Russian invasion of Ukraine and inflicting colossal loss of human lives and turning Ukraine into desolation, India has only turned its back on the free and democratic world and shielding a totally dictator who has no compunction to invade another sovereign nation and inflict deaths and horrible suffering on several thousand Ukrainian people. The vote is to tell Russia to stop the killing and return back and restore the sanctity of international border with Ukraine. If India feels being with Russia will be beneficial, it has to realise it will have to sacrifice growing ties with the USA to compete with China. Russia and China have made a pact to extend active cooperation to the highest ever which means a lot. India has to remain truly neutral with regard to military alliance but not when it comes to standing up for the victims of perpetrators and realise that being neutral is same as silence meaning acquiescence. The present foreign policy undertaken by the central government is too ambiguous and this itself does not work well in changing circumstances. It is time to take on broad views and work towards consensus and eventually join the rest of the nations for peace in the middle east.

After India initially backed Israeli Defence Force(IDF) and Russian military riding on the crest of the Ukraine war, India has re-positioned itself as a buffer that can be played with regularity against the Russian stick, given up to sordid western booby as the entire economic crisis.
