Congress leader Rahul Gandhi\u2019s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra (BJNY) entered Khuzama from Manipur on Monday evening. The local ground at Khuzama witnessed hundreds of Congress supporters, party workers and villagers according a rousing traditional welcome to Rahul Gandhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The former Congress president will halt for the night at Khuzama. The yatra, which will cover over 250 kms in five districts, will kickstart from Viswema around 8 am on Tuesday. Gandhi will then proceed to the state capital where he will visit the World War-II Cemetery for a wreath-laying event around 9 a.m. Thereafter, he will walk up to Phoolbari and proceed to High School junction where he will address the public at around 9:30 am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Soon after arrival from Manipur, Gandhi engaged in discussions with the Khuzama Village Council and civil society organisations, including the Naga Hoho. Talking to media persons after meeting the Congress leader, Naga Hoho president HK Zhimomi said the delegation briefed Gandhi on the longstanding Naga political issue, expressing concern over the alleged lack of sincerity on the part of the Central government.
In response, Gandhi assured to raise the matter in the Parliament. Zhimomi mentioned that he highlighted the repeated assurances from the Centre, emphasising the urgency of a resolution, especially given the promises that solution would be achieved before Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asked whether a solution could be expected under Congress rule, Zhimomi expressed optimism. Highlighting the innocence and sincerity of the Nagas, he mentioned that blind trust could not be reposed on someone indefinitely. As reported, Gandhi will have scheduled stops and address the public along the route to Chiechama, Tseminyu and Wokha on Tuesday. He will halt for the night at Chukitong town and resume the yatra the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On January 17, he will proceed to VK Town and address the public from a bus. At Mokokchung town, he will address the public and also hold an interaction at Amoklushi Chuchuyimpang and later visit the Gandhi Ashram at Chuchuyimlang. He will also address the public at Changtongya and head to Tuli where he will halt for the night and depart the next day for Assam.
On January 18, the Congress leader will kickstart the eight-day long Assam leg of the yatra from Haluating, along the interstate border with Nagaland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NH submits memo: Meanwhile, in a post on X, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said the Naga Hoho delegation submitted a memorandum to Gandhi over non-implementation of the Framework Agreement signed between NSCN (I-M) and the Centre, hailed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a breakthrough and a solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that the Framework Agreement remained just a piece of paper even after almost nine years, and termed it as another proof of the \u201cbogus claims\u201d that the Prime Minister allegedly specialised. Jairam Ramesh said that the Naga Hoho delegation requested the Congress leader to raise the issue in Parliament. On his part, Gandhi recalled that there had been no consultation with other political parties before the Framework Agreement was signed, especially with the Congress that had governments then in three North Eastern states\u2014 Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
