NSCN (I-M) through its MIP asserted that Nagas were indigenous people with high level of political consciousness, cultural and social cohesion. It also said that Nagas were also fully aware of the \u201cirrefutable historical narratives\u201d of the Naga nation that transcend international barriers \u201coppressively created\u201d by the Indian and Myanmar governments without consulting the Nagas. It added that \u201csuch manner of injustice and wrong conduct\u201d against the Nagas continued to haunt the Nagas till today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>NSCN (I-M) reminded that the Naga political movement came into existence with the avowed stand to defend the \u201chistorical and political rights of the Naga nation\u201d and put to an end the hegemony of the government of India and Myanmar in the manner that was acceptable and honourable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>NSCN (I-M) asserted that the recent move of the government of India to abolish the \u201ctime-honoured\u201d Free Movement Regime (FMR) came as \u201ca rude shock\u201d to the NSCN in particular and to the whole Nagas in general. \u201cIt reminds us of the treacherous division of the Nagas by the Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru and the Burmese Prime Minister U Nu in 1953,\u201d NSCN (I-M) stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>However, it said that the Nagas have never accepted the arbitrary international boundary demarcation set up by two prime ministers, adding that the Nagas living on either side of the \u201cso-called international border\u201d have remained as one family defying all the odds.<br>NSCN (I-M) stated that Nagas, as one family, needed free movement from both sides. \u201cIronically, the nature of the boundary demarcation was so cruel that it runs right through the house of Longwa King in Mon district,\u201d NSCN (I-M) said, adding that \u201cnothing can be crueller than this while dividing the Naga family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>On the issue of illegal immigrants, NSCN (I-M) asserted that Naga themselves would control any illegal immigrant in Naga soil. \u201cWe will not allow any illegal immigrants in our territory,\u201d NSCN (I-M) said and affirmed that it was \u201ctotally against boundary fencing in our lands that violates our rights as one family.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NSCN (I-M) has affirmed that it would not allow the proposed boundary fencing that further divides the Naga family as a nation.
