A two-day education workshop on dissemination of Learning Competencies at the Middle and Secondary Level as per National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, got underway on February 8 at ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) Training Centre, Don Bosco Campus, Dimapur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a DIPR report, NCERT and its National Assessment Centre PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) and NBSE joined hands with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), to conduct this workshop which is the 10th workshop in the series of a nation-wide campaign on learning competencies, called Project Vidyasagar. This was part of a nation-wide campaign launched by PARAKH NCERT and PHDCCI on National Education Policy 2020 and National Assessment Survey (NAS) in November, 2023. Workshops have been held in Patna, Srinagar, Gandhinagar, Chandigarh, Goa, Port Blair, Pune, Kolkata and Ranchi in this series so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The aim of these workshops was to create awareness among school teachers about Learning Competencies at different levels of evaluation as per National Curriculum Framework, School Education 2023 (NCFSE, 2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NBSE chairperson Asano Sekhose addressed the house on the objectives of the workshop. She highlighted the performance of Nagaland in the NAS 2021. She also highlighted about the Competency Based Assessment Reforms which NBSE is implementing in the state. Sekhose stated that \u201cNCF 2023 strongly emphasizes the importance of the clear \u201cflow down\u201d that must connect aims to curricular goals to competencies to learning outcomes. Learning outcomes are interim markers of learning achievements towards the attainment of competencies\u201d. She said that teachers should work towards achieving the learning outcomes to fulfil the curricular goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She stated that one can expect a transformation in the ecosystem of school education only if they all know the goals envisaged in the NEP 2020 and translate these goals into reality. And for this to happen, she said all stakeholders need to join hands and work together and the role of the teacher is very crucial.
Head and CEO, PARAKH, NCERT, Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, presented the keynote address and the theme presentation of the workshop virtually from New Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing 90 teachers from five districts (Kohima, Dimapur, Ch\u00fcmoukedima, Peren, Niuland) during the inaugural session, Prof Bhaduri said that it was critical for teachers to understand learning competencies at foundational, preparatory, middle and secondary levels. The assessment reforms under NEP 2020, she said, focus on competency-based learning, moving away from rote learning. This, Prof. Bhaduri said was the first education policy of the 21st century aiming at addressing many growing developmental imperatives of the country. \u201cProject Vidyasagar was meant to create a momentum in education and a ripple effect of knowledge\u201d, she added and exhorted every teacher to take the message of the workshop to more teachers so that the ocean of learning grows bigger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Academic Officer NBSE, Dziesevolie Tsurho, delivered the welcome address, assistant secretary general PHDCCI, Shalini S Sharma, highlighted the context setting of the two-day workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two-day workshop will have technical sessions on \u201cUnderstanding Large-Scale Assessments and Interpreting Results; Understanding Learning Competencies at Different Levels\u201d and \u201cData-driven Teaching and Feedback Strategies; How to Assess Learning Outcomes\u201d with assistant professor, Department of School Education, Prof. Vijayan K, and Mohammad Ilyas as resource persons from NCERT.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
