A press release by National Health Mission (NHM) Nagaland informed that the commission and secretary was addressing MOs at an inaugural function prior to the commencement of a five-day training on expanded packages of services under Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC) organised for Medical Officers (MOs) of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs), Tuesday at Conference Hall of the Directorate of Health &amp; Family Welfare (DoH&amp;FW) Kohima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Kezo said the MOs should not to be satisfied with doing only the routine duties but to \u201cgo beyond in transforming the health seeking behaviour of the people and creating an enabling environment\u201d. He urged them to take the \u201cextra mile and make a decision to be a powerful agent of change\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Noting that health care was emerging as a basic human right, he expressed hope that the training would re-orient the way the medical fraternity perform their duties and responsibilities.<br>Kezo also appreciated the commendable performance of Chunlikha PHC on how they were managing the health units in an innovative way, by showing an example of understanding their responsibilities and bringing about a positive change in the place where the officers were posted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>DoHFW principal director, Dr. Ritu Thurr said PHC was the first contact point of the community and that it was the responsibility of MOs to carry out all the services available.<br>Pointing out that medical profession was a \u201cnoble profession\u201d, Dr. Thurr reminded the MOs that they entered the profession by choice and not by chance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>He then appealed them to re-dedicate and respect the medical ethics, value and commit in delivering the comprehensive health care service to the community. Delivering the keynote address, NHM mission director, Dr. E. Motsuthung Patton appealed the doctors present to come together in ensuring quality health care for every citizen and transforming the public health system in our state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Giving and overview of CPHC, NHM state program officer, Dr. Mereninla Senlem stated that, the program was intended in reducing out-of -pocket expenses and bringing healthcare closer to the doorstep of the people.<br>During the inaugural program Chunlikha PHC was also felicitated for receiving the National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS) Certification from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, government of India. The award was given away by the Commissioner &amp; Secretary to the MO in-charge of the PHC, Dr. Cheyale Kath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The inaugural programme was chaired by NHM deputy director, Dr. Manyau and vote of thanks delivered by director, health, DoHFW, Dr. Akuo Sorhie.
