Attributing Nagaland\u2019s success on the national sporting stage to the proactive initiatives led by Nagaland Olympic Association president and chief minister Neiphiu Rio, Ganesan emphasized the need to provide robust platforms for young athletes to excel both nationally and internationally. He underscored the state\u2019s potential to make substantial contributions to India\u2019s sporting landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>In addition to Olympic events, Ganesan underscored the importance of preserving and promoting Nagaland\u2019s rich tradition of indigenous sports, such as wrestling, archery, and spear throwing. He highlighted the recent inauguration of five multidisciplinary indoor sports complexes in the state, envisioning them as vibrant hubs for sporting activities and youth empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Expressing delight that Nagaland would be hosting the upcoming 3rd Edition of the North East Games 2024, Governor urged the youth to seize such opportunities to showcase their talents and potential on a regional platform. He highlighted the plight of many talented individuals who, after exceeding their prime age, find themselves unemployed.<br>Zeliang pointed out the need to revisit the parameters for accommodating sportspersons in government jobs, citing the unfortunate reality that many young athletes excelling in various sports disciplines end up without employment opportunities once they surpass their prime age.<br>He noted that despite their participation at national and international levels, there is often a lack of clear opportunities for employment based on sports quotas. To address these issues, Zeliang revealed that the State government is envisioning a comprehensive revamp of the existing sports policy for implementation in the near future. Advocating for a collaborative approach to sports development, Zeliang urged the involvement of various stakeholders, including governmental bodies and grassroots organizations. He highlighted the pivotal role of tribal sports organizations within Naga communities and called for their active inclusion in shaping the state\u2019s sporting landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Expressing confidence in the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio and the Nagaland Olympic Association, Zeliang believed that much-needed reforms could be achieved.<br>Reflecting on the progress since the first Nagaland Olympics held in 2017 during his tenure as chief minister, Zeliang praised the growth experienced in the third Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games (NOPG).
