Chandigarh University secured the team championship title in men\u2019s and women\u2019s wrestling at the Khelo India University Wrestling Games 2023 held at the IG Stadium on Sunday with Governor of Nagaland La Ganesan as the guest.
Speaking on the sideline of the programme, Governor expressed joy at witnessing numerous participants and skilled wrestlers present and was pleased that the event occurred in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In senior women\u2019s wrestling team, Chandigarh University bagged gold, Lovely Professional University bagged silver and bronze by Guru Kashi University. In men\u2019s team wrestling, Chandigarh University bagged gold, Guru Kashi bagged silver Bronze by Rani Chanamma University, Karnataka.
During the programme, traditional Naga wrestlers, Venuzo Dawhuo and Kezhaseluo-o Pieny\u00fc, demonstrated the Naga traditional wrestling to showcase the unique wrestling style to the guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Naga Wrestling Association representative detailed that in a demonstration match about, Naga wrestling which involved two players, a main referee, three subordinate referees, a timekeeper, two belt binders, and two runners which was followed by a medal ceremony led by the Governor and giving away the award of the champions.
Altogether, 232 athletes, 25 technical officials and 55 support staff from 72 universities across the country attended the games. The athletes and officials will depart on February 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
