{"id":4157,"date":"2008-07-25T00:28:47","date_gmt":"2008-07-25T00:28:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2008\/07\/25\/npf-takes-mps-betrayal-to-ls-speaker\/"},"modified":"2008-07-25T00:28:47","modified_gmt":"2008-07-25T00:28:47","slug":"npf-takes-mps-betrayal-to-ls-speaker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2008\/07\/25\/npf-takes-mps-betrayal-to-ls-speaker\/","title":{"rendered":"NPF takes MP\u2019s betrayal to LS Speaker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Smarting under the action of the State\u2019s lone Lok Sabha MP Wangyuh Konyak of the NPF party member in defying the party\u2019s directive to vote against the UPA government in the trust vote on the nuclear deal, the NPF has urged the Lok Sabha Speaker to constitute a committee to look into the \u201cgrievances\u201d of the NPF.<br \/>The NPF party said after the committee submitted its report, the party would take further action against the MP and all those who had induced him to take \u201cbribe.\u201d<br \/>Alleging that the ruling UPA had in its quest for desperate survival, chose to slaughter democratic principles at the altar of the mother of democratic institution (Parliament), NPF president Dr. Shurhozelie in a letter addressed to Lok Sabha Speaker said it was needless to mention that \u201cinducements were said to have been offered by the UPA to various defectors to support the Confidence Vote.\u201d<br \/> \u201cOur representative in the Lok Sabha who remained dumb during the proceedings because he must have obtained illegal gratifications against public interest to benefit the UPA, which tantamount in law to criminal misconduct by public servant in terms of Section 13 of The Prevention of Corruption Act,\u201d Shurhozelie said.<br \/>The NPF president said since the interest of Nagaland State had been sidelined in many ways, the people of Nagaland expected its representative (MP) to echo their sentiment in Parliament.<br \/>He also said that though NPF supported the UPA during the presidential election, the latter betrayed and stabbed the NPF party in the back by bringing President Rule on January 4, 2008.<br \/>\u201cTo express our serious concern at the arbitrary, whimsical and capricious attitude of the Centre our chosen representative in the Lok Sabha was to vote against the UPA in Parliament in tune with the party\u2019s stand,\u201d he added.<br \/>Shurhozelie also reminded that Wangyuh had earlier submitted his resignation letter to the Speaker on the ground that the genuine interest of Nagaland State was not taken into consideration.
