Golden jubilee celebration of Ever Green Club (EGC) of Ungma, under the theme, \u201cRejuvenate\u201d, culminated on Wednesday, December 21 with a Musical Extravaganza (1966 to 2016) with parliamentary secretary of Tourism, C. Apok Jamir gracing the occasion as chief guest.<\/div>\n
C. Apok Jamir in his speech lauded the leaders and members of \u2018Ever Green Club\u2019, for being the pioneers and pathfinders for a progressive society at large. He said the club was well known for preserving the rich traditional culture and maintaining a healthy<\/div>\n
development of the society by way of promoting music & arts, games & sports, education, etc. The celebration was a moment for the younger generation of the club to introspect and retrospect to carry the principles and spirit of the club to a higher level.<\/div>\n
The souvenir was unveiled by NLA deputy speaker, Imtikumzuk Longkumer. The opening act was done by the \u201cRefiners Choir\u201d, with a choral piece \u201cThe Heavens are telling\u201d, conducted by director Asangla. The massive audience at the Suyim Aonglenden was swayed by nostalgia, when the old timers of the EGC musical group hit the stage to perform some of their old time favourite tunes. Earlier, welcome address was delivered by EGC president Merongnok Pongen, exhortation by former president EGC and Tatar Imtidongba Jamir, invocation by UBC pastor, Dr. Rev. A Noklen Longkumer and anode recited by Tsuyongdenla. <\/div>\n
