Zukhumki Federation comprising of 9 Village Level Organizations (VLOs) formed by 91 Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Chukitong RD Block, Wokha district organized its first Annual General Meeting (AGM) here at Chukitong Range Community Hall, Chukitong, on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the occasion, special guest Chukitong BDO cum BMM, Dr. Ezao L Ezung stated that the very idea behind promotion of SHGs, VLOs and Federations by the government was poverty alleviation and empowerment of women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr Ezung said that groups like SHGs plays an important role in providing financial independence to the womenfolk in the Naga society which is a patriarchal one. He also urged the gathering to do away with the old mindset of availing loans just for the sake of getting money but to utilize the loans for the purpose of creating income generating avenues for their greater long-term benefits. Wokha DMMU ADPM Samuel Kithan and Chukitong BMMU BPM Janthungbemo N Ezung encouraged the Zukhumki Federation and urged the womenfolk to own the various hand holding assistance schemes of NSRLM to get maximum benefit for themselves and their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zukhumki Federation president L. Joy Ovung delivered presidential address and finance secretary Thungchanbeni Kikon presented the activities and financial report, while Zuthunglo Ngullie from Likya SHG, Yanthamo village shared her success story with the gathering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chukitong Baptist Church associate pastor M. Yentsao Lotha offered invocation, Bravo School of Music Wokha director R. David Ngullie and N. Lanvan Patton presented special numbers, Zukhumki Federation treasurer Lumbeni Ngullie proposed vote of thanks, and Tsungiki Baptist Church women leader Tumchobeni Kikon pronounced benediction at the programme chaired by Yanthamo village CRP-EP Lochumi Odyuo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the programme, awards for best performing VLO, SHG, VF, Master Book Keeper, CSP (Sustainable Agriculture), and Best Stall Display were awarded to Koio VLO, Khoroli SHG, Shancholo Ezung (Chukitong VLO), Sulanbeni Kikon (Seluku VLO), Zuthunglo Ngullie (Yanthamo VLO) and Seluku VLO respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
