{"id":427463,"date":"2024-06-10T02:19:58","date_gmt":"2024-06-09T20:49:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.com\/?p=427463"},"modified":"2024-06-10T02:20:01","modified_gmt":"2024-06-09T20:50:01","slug":"nsp-target-zero-indigenous-leprosy-cases-by-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2024\/06\/10\/nsp-target-zero-indigenous-leprosy-cases-by-2027\/","title":{"rendered":"NSP target zero indigenous leprosy cases by 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A one-day training program for District Program Officers-CD\/11 (DPOs-CD\/11) was held on June 7, at Conference Hall, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Kohima with participation from all district representatives with State leprosy Consultant, Dr. S.K.Dey, and State Leprosy Officer, Dr. Ruokuohelie Rutsa, as resource persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Gracing the training as special guest, Mission Director, Dr. Akuo Sorhie gave a detailed insight of leprosy programme with special emphasis on Nation Strategic Plan (NSP) and also highlighted roadmap for Leprosy 2023-2024. The target of NSP was achievement of transmission of leprosy and achieve zero indigenous leprosy cases by 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Dr. Sorhie also added on the need to remain vigilant and not to be complacent about active cases of leprosy in Nagaland with few indigenous cases. Stressing on the acceleration of finding new cases and intensified case finding of leprosy, she stressed on the requirement for aggressive contact tracing of index cases and proper preventive measures like post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) to be administered at the right time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Meanwhile, Dr. Rutsa gave PowerPoint presentation on the overview of leprosy program and the State performance in the last five years, which showed detection of 122 cases, 90 (74%) imported cases and 32 (26%) indigenous cases.
