Shanthungo Yanthan, and attended by 76 members including members and executive members.
\nAccording to a press release issued jointly by vice-president and general secretary of the union, P. Zanthungo Patton and T. Hayithung Odyuo the union has vehemently condemned the unconstitutional and illegal elections purportedly held at the conference hall of deputy commissioner, Wokha, on October 22 last year instead of deliberating on the issues of DHEP affected people including employment, development and water reservoir.
\nRegretting that some vested individuals had pre-planned to take over the union leaderships by blindly ignoring all democratic norms and legal rights that have been passed on to the present legitimate team led by its president.
\nThe press release stated the activities of Y. Odyuo and others, who were imposing as president and office bearers of LOU\/DHEP were totally illegal, illogical and does not have the slightest moral rights as the union have not given any mandate to such individuals whose objectives were only of their interest.
\nThe union also reminded all concerned that the elections of office bearers would be conducted by an election commission of LOU\/DHEP as per the ‘Article’ of the union’s constitution in ‘absolute transparency’ and justice for which the commission would be setting up prior to the expiry of the current tenure and with proper notification for filing nominations and conductions of elections in due course of time as per the democracy.
\nThe meeting also reiterated its stand in the leadership of president, N. Shanthungo Yanthan and also pledged for unwavering support and loyalty for larger progress and developments of the affected people and for larger interest of the project at the same time took serious note of the activities of the ‘bogus’ LOU leaders whose actions and activities completely contradict the existing High Court orders presently enjoyed by the incumbent president and party.
\nIt also decided to view as contempt of the court’s order in regard to Y. Odyuo and his party’s claim as president and office bearers of the LOUDHEP which would also require to initiate suitable legal actions.
\nAlso expressing its displeasure over the functioning of DHEP head office which is functioning from Golaghat guest house (Assam) since for the last two years, the union has demanded for immediate stationing of the HOP at DHEP for larger interest of the project.
\nThe deputy commissioner, Wokha, had earlier given direction to HOP to be stationed at Doyang project which has been ignored till date.
\nThe meeting also took serious note of the multiple problems and uncertainty being faced by 89 days local employees of DHEP, which the union felt the employees were dedicated in their services by giving more times as compared to the regular employees and needed for urgent redressal as they were deprived of numerous opportunities.
\nMeanwhile, the LOU\/DHEP led by Y. Odyuo, president, in a separate release has clarified the news item which appeared in a local daily under the heading “LOU writes to GM NEEPCO” stating the use of the term\/words ‘Imposter and Tantamount to Legal Action” needed careful study and understanding which amounts to defamation.
\nOdyuo also said since LOU is a registered society and NGO it has got nothing to do with the court by stating “Let the affected land owners and public see which LOU has mandate of the land owners and public,” at the same time added tenure of ‘so called former LOU expired which was defunct and paralyzed and as such ‘clean’ election was conducted on October 22, 2008 with land owners and public.
\nThe release further stated that no individuals or organizations were authorized to threaten NEEPCO\/DHEP, Doyang officials and its staff by asking them to bring court order for non compliance of their request and appeal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Land Owner’s Union Doyang Hydro Electric Project (LOU\/DHEP) has passed various resolutions during its executive meeting held on January 3 at DHEP Doyang conference hall that was chaired by its president, N.
