{"id":43096,"date":"2009-01-24T00:27:10","date_gmt":"2009-01-24T00:27:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2009\/01\/24\/news-in-brief-73\/"},"modified":"2009-01-24T00:27:10","modified_gmt":"2009-01-24T00:27:10","slug":"news-in-brief-73","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2009\/01\/24\/news-in-brief-73\/","title":{"rendered":"News in brief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>Tax coll mar timber business<br \/>\nDIMAPUR: Despite repeated request and assurance given by government department to tackle the problem of taxation in Phek district, the public especially timber business community are still being burdened with heavy taxation.<br \/>\nPhek District Timber Association (PDTA) has, in this connection requested the department in-charge to maintain the commitment they promised and to extend support to the organization.<br \/>\nA press release issued by PDTA President Sanyi Dukru stated that with the ongoing timber season, the timber business community not only had to carry on with business but it served as the only source of income for the family. PDTA has therefore sought cooperation from the public and department to tackle the taxation problem.<br \/>\nEffort to curb illegal tax collection<br \/>\nDIMAPUR: In view of the rampant collection of illegal taxes in Dimapur shops, the Consumer Society Dimapur (CSD) has informed all shop keepers, hotels, business establishment and citizen in Dimapur not to entertain any contribution or donation to any individual on the pretext CSD. The CSD in a press release issued by its president, V. Vinito Chophi, has also requested IRB personnel and security forces to arrest those persons who were found to be exploiting people and also maligning name of the society for personal benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Tsg district gears up for R-Day<br \/>\nTUENSANG: Along with rest of the state, Tuensang district administration has made mandatory for every government servant and public to attend the Republic Day celebration on January 26 and also to hoist the national flag in their respective departmental offices. P. Longon, minister for soil and water conservation would grace the day as chief guest where various programmes including exhibition of stalls, football matches, and presentation of cultural dances by Yimchunger, Chang, Sangtam, Khiamniungan and Phom would be the highlights of the celebration. March past by contingents of NAP, DEF, CRPF, NCC, Scout and Guides, VG and ex-servicemen would also be another part of the programme.<br \/>\nLivestock exhibition<br \/>\nDIMAPUR: Department of veterinary and animal husbandry would be organizing a livestock exhibition at the Republic Day celebrations in Phek on January 26.<br \/>\nDistrict veterinary and animal husbandry officer Dr. Mudozo Sahire has informed interested farmers to submit their livestock and poultry for exhibition. The category of piggery and poultry would be -local breed cock &#038; hen, mixed breed cock &#038; hen, local sow\/gilt and cross breed sow\/gilt.<br \/>\nInterested farmers have been informed to submit their livestock\/poultry for the exhibition at local ground between 6 a.m and 7 a.m on January 26. First three winners would be awarded prizes by the department.<br \/>\nChaplains\u2019 trg<br \/>\nDIMAPUR: All unit pastors of Nagaland Baptist Churches Association (NBCA) have been informed to send its outpost fellowship chaplains to attend the chaplain&#8217;s training from February 13 to 15 at NPBCA mission centre.<br \/>\nThe NPBCA mission and evangelism secretary, Rev. Dr. N. Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has informed that size of National flag should not be smaller than 450 X 300 mm. KMC has also requested Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry to take necessary action for arrangement of national flag to the traders.<br \/>\nDCC Mkg meet<br \/>\nDIMAPUR: A coordination meeting of MLAs, former candidates, NPCC members from the district, all frontal chiefs and ACCC Presidents of Mokokchung district has been convened on January 28,1 0 a.m at DCC office Mokokchung.DMC notifies butchers, fish mongers<br \/>\nDIMAPUR: Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has notified all butchers and fish mongers to put their weighing scale in a fixed place within seven days to avoid further complications and also for public conveniences.<br \/>\nAccording to a press release issued by the member-in-charge of the council, Market Rate Control Cell (MRCC), the notice is being issued after the butchers and fish mongers were found selling the meat and fish without hanging their measuring instrument on a fixed place.<br \/>\nThe DMC in-charge MRCC, Vihuto Yeptho, also said failing to comply with the notice would bound for disciplinary actions  which might also lead to cancellation of trade licenses and imposition of heavy penalty.<br \/>\nARSU to<br \/>\nrelease CD<br \/>\nDIMAPUR: The first ever CD of Atoizu Range Students&#8217; Union (ARSU) would be released on January 24 by Hoshito Aye, treasury officer, Peren, at his residence at 10.30 am. Sema, has informed the public to be alert in regard to vehicle theft (s) by informing personnel of West Police Station, Dimapur.<br \/>\nAccording to a press release issued by the deputy chairperson, the alertness has been given after two habitual car lifters identified as Kakito Sema and his non local accomplice were caught while stealing a vehicle (SLX Bolero) from PWD rental housing, Dimapur, on January 22 morning.<br \/>\nZTC deputy chairperson has also requested the officer-in-charge of West police station to interrogate the arrested persons so as to expose car lifters who are on the loose.<br \/>\n1 held for extortion<br \/>\nDimapur: Acting on a tip off, police Friday apprehended one person identified as one Pukhato V. Awomi (20) of Surumi Village, Zunheboto, currently residing at Thekhekhu village, block V, Dimapur for allegedly extorting money near signal area, Dimapur at around 10 am.<br \/>\nPolice on receiving information that extortion is being carried out around the area in full combat dress swung into action and arrested the person.<br \/>\nPolice said the accused was a former NSCN-IM though he was no longer an active member. The accused has been remanded under police custody for further inquiry.
