\nAccording to sources, investigations into the Rs.50 lakh under the District Education Office Changtongya allotted as per the Sarva Shiksa Abhiyan (SSA)scheme and the road scam involving the withdrawal of an amount of approximately Rs.3.09 crore against the 35-kilometer Mokokchung to Longkhum village link road are bogged down despite conclusive evidence.
\nIt may be recalled that the road scam came to light during January 2008 but no action was taken at the government level till it came to light.
\nThe facts that emerged from the scam report confirmed, that Rs.3.09 crore out of the total estimate of Rs.4.90 crore,for the work, was released during mid-November 2007 without any work being done.
\n The work order was reportedly issued on October 1,2007 by the Road and Bridges department during the tenure of the first DAN coalition government and payment made on November 14,2008.
\nLater following the publication of the scam, the Governor during President\u2019s Rule, directed the case be handed over to the CBI, after the high power technical committee submitted its report to the chief secretary.
\nThough the state Governor had ordered for a CBI investigation, it did not go anywhere after the new government came to power.
\nProbe into various other scams during the tenure of the Congress government in the lottery department, the civil supplies department also met an inconclusive end.
\nProbes by the CBI into some of the scams have also not progressed beyond holding officers culpable while politicians seem to be insulated from the long arm of the law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
