Akshay Kumar on Friday commented on the box office failure of his last few releases, saying it is absurd that people are writing him off just because some of his films did not do well.
The actor said he is not too bothered by such comments and will continue to work hard the way he has done in his three decade old career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kumar\u2019s last few films including \u201cSarfira\u201d, \u201cBade Miyan Chote Miyan\u201d, \u201cMission Raniganj\u201d, \u201cSelfiee\u201d, \u201cRaksha Bandhan\u201d, \u201cSamrat Prithviraj\u201d, and \u201cBachchhan Pandey\u201d performed poorly at the box office.
\u201cWhatever happens, happens for the good, I don\u2019t think too much (about box office failure of his films). Four-five films of mine have not worked, and I get so many messages, saying, \u2018sorry yaar, fikar mat kar\u2019 (Don\u2019t worry my friend). I\u2019m not dead!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt feels like people are sending me obituary messages, like how people send condolences through messages. One journalist even wrote, \u2018You\u2019ll be back\u2019, I called him up and asked, \u2018Why are you writing this? What does \u2018back\u2019 mean? Where have I gone?\u2019,\u201d Kumar told reporters here at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, \u201cKhel Khel Mein\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 56-year-old actor said his focus is to continue working hard. \u201cI\u2019m here and I\u2019ll keep working. I\u2019ll always keep working irrespective of whatever people say. In the morning, I wake up, exercise, and leave for work and return home, whatever I earn, I earn on my own. I\u2019ll never snatch anything from anyone. I\u2019ll keep on working till they shoot me down (to stop me from working).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKhel Khel Mein\u201d boasts of an ensemble cast including Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal. The comedy-drama is directed by Mudassar Aziz of \u201cHappy Bhag Jayegi\u201d and \u201cPati Patni Aur Woh\u201d fame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cKhel Khel Mein\u201d is set to clash at the box office with two Hindi movies, John Abraham-starrer \u201cVedaa\u201d, and Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor\u2019s \u201cStree 2\u201d, on August 15.
Aziz, however, said he is rooting for all the films and hopes they all do well. \u201cWe are all a part of the Hindi film industry, and a festive weekend is coming up, I don\u2019t view it as us against them. I love Amar Kaushik (director of \u2018Stree 2\u2019), I\u2019ve great respect for the work he does and I want both our films to do well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI want Hindi films to do well. We have to work hard enough to make our industry prosper. When a festive weekend like that comes, we should ask audiences to come in (to cinemas),\u201d the director said, adding, in \u201cKhel Khel Mein\u201d he even gives a shout out to \u2018Stree\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt\u2019s my way of calling out to Amar and saying that let\u2019s have a great weekend at the box office.
