In a delayed report, two cattle smugglers were apprehended by Mokokchung Police at Tsutapela Check Gate on July 29. According to Additional Superintendent of Police & PRO, Mokokchung Police, the two identified as Hasim Ali and Zakir Ali, residents of Balijan Natun Mati, Mariani, Assam, were taken into custody following an intensive investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PRO informed that the arrest was made after a resident of Longtho reported theft of four cows in the early hours of July 28. The subsequent investigation revealed that a gang of cattle smugglers had stolen cattle from both Longtho and Moayimti Village and were transporting them to Assam in a white Bolero pick-up (AS03C 5507).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During questioning, Hasim Ali and Zakir Ali confessed to their involvement and revealed that five individuals, including the vehicle\u2019s owners, Alfred and Rinku, as well as an unknown accomplice, were part of the operation. They admitted that the cattle were disposed of at Amguri Char Ali, Assam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the confessions, a team led by OC Longtho PS conducted raids in Mariani but the other co-accused were absconding. Efforts were on to apprehend those persons with police stations instructed to remain highly vigilant against such crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
