National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) Dimapur district observed Anti-Dengue Month in July 2024 under the theme \u201cDengue Prevention: Our Responsibility for a Safer Tomorrow\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to IEC Bureau Section, Office of Chief Medical Officer Dimapur, the month long campaign successfully engaged the community in dengue prevention efforts, resulting in increased awareness and reduced potential breeding sites for mosquitoes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NCVBDC Dimapur team also used various strategies and activities to reach and educate the community about dengue and its preventive measures. Public awareness was also primarily raised through announcements where the key messages including dengue prevention tips and schedules of campaign activities were shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team also visited schools to raise awareness amongst children. At the community level, meetings were organized in various neighborhoods. These sessions discussed local dengue statistics, identified common breeding sites, and outlined prevention strategies. A key component of the campaign was the house-to-house visits for source reduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trained volunteers visited households, focusing on identifying and eliminating potential breeding sites, especially in flowerpots, and other objects that can contain water. Residents were educated on the Aedes mosquito\u2019s breeding habits and the importance of regular checks, empowering them to maintain dengue-free environments. The campaign also involved the distribution of IEC materials and poster campaigns. LLIN mosquito nets were also distributed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
