Oscar winning-actress Kate Winslet has finally addressed the iconic \u201cTitanic\u201d door scene which, according to her, may not even be a \u201cdoor\u201d scene after all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Talking on the Australian talk show The Project, the actress said that the \u201cdoor\u201d featured in the iconic \u201cTitanic\u201d scene wasn\u2019t really a door, but rather another piece of the set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When asked if there was \u201croom on the door\u201d for co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, whose character Jack Dawson held onto the piece of floating wood after the ship sank, Winslet said that she knew the interviewer would \u201cask me that question,\u201d reports people.com.
\u201cI thought, \u2018He\u2019s busting out the Titanic question and next he\u2019s gonna ask me about the door.\u2019 I absolutely knew it,\u201d Winslet said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBut, you know, what I will say that\u2019s really interesting is people keep referring to it as a door. It actually wasn\u2019t even a door.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s a piece of bannister, like stairway or something, that had broken off. Who knows if (DiCaprio) could\u2019ve (fit) on there or not. Honestly, I don\u2019t have any insights here that anyone else hasn\u2019t already tried to figure out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The scene has been a topic of discussion among \u201cTitanic\u201d fans and general movie-goers ever since the film\u2019s 1997 release, with some fans on Reddit also coming to the conclusion that the debris wasn\u2019t a door and matching it with an image from inside the film\u2019s titular ship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTitanic\u201d director James Cameron also previously commissioned a scientific study to determine if there really was enough room for both Jack and Rose on the floating debris, when he and a team of scientists tapped two stunt doubles to reenact four different scenarios. \u201cJack might\u2019ve lived, but there\u2019s a lot of variables.
