Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has reiterated its call for abiding by the September 14, 2022 statement signed by the NSCN (I-M)\u2019s collective leadership and convenor of Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forum in a press release cautioned the people of Naga land that they would not be able to defend what was theirs if they were in conflict within, and with the democratic values and powers that existed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The forum also quoted the September 14 statement that reads, \u201cWE ARE AWARE OF OUR DIFFERENCES and hence we guard ourselves against rifts that further divides us. We are committed to transcend our differences through cooperation, to be worked out . . . on the basis of Covenant of Reconciliation. In this regard, we understand that cooperation which is socially and politically imaginative and prudently concrete is nation building begun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since June 13, 2009, the FNR said that with the signing of the Covenant of Reconciliation (CoR), the Nagas were experiencing cessation of violent confrontation, which was a daily phenomenon in the 1990s and 2000s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hence, the forum said it was imperative that all Naga political groups (NPGs) and the public knew that the CoR was binding, and that no one should break this sacred covenant signed before the God and people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the forum, warrior instinct of the war cry by different individuals and cultural groups are only needed information passing on to interested parties. However, the forum stressed that the war cry did not help the Naga spirit, but only weakened it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FNR called for thinking and acting differently without giving in, pointing out that this was the missing paradox of Naga people, while exhorting to move on without diverting.
\u201cLet us give this chance without delay. The public mandate just around the Naga morung should not be taken lightly,\u201d the release emphasised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By cooperating within and with \u201cthem\u201d, the forum maintained that Naga land could definitely be protected and strengthened, along with defending the relative rights of the Nagas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Asserting that this was not the time to take a backward-looking view of history, no matter how tall and dignified it might be, the FNR said the Nagas must move on without abandoning history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Appealing not to despair at the present snags and unlighted highway, the forum emphasised that this was the time to cooperate, organise, mobilise and stay engaged with all stakeholders for an honourable imaginative Naga political solution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
