He further claimed that despite items sold without printed MRP , the shopkeeper was adamant and even allegedly threatened the DNSU.

Hinoto also alleged that the shopkeeper claimed that such practices were common among shopkeepers in Dimapur adding that it was “daylight robbery of Nagas”. The president reiterated that the DNSU inspected the shop after a specific complaint and that such inspections would be undertaken cases based on complaints.

He also lamented on the lack of public support for the DNSU’s efforts and instead claimed that some even criticised the union without understanding the facts. Hinoto asked why student leaders in Nagaland were discouraged from tackling corruption, when students doing the same across the world were lauded and encouraged?

DNSU leaders said their team did not close the particular shop but that it was the police who did so after finding that items had no MRP labels.

He also alleged that when the Union went to register FIR at the East P.S on the same day, it was not accepted as the personnel claimed that the officer-in-charge (OC) was unavailable. He said that even the FIR by DNSU was still not been accepted.

In response to claim by the shopkeeper that GST and other taxes were paid, Hinoto wondered how GST was paid when the items did not have MRP lables. Hinoto also said selling items without without MRP was illegal and vowed that the DNSU would continue to fight against such malpractices in the interests of Naga community.

Asked whether DNSU had informed the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) on the issue, Hinoto said that the union operated independently and was only answerable to the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF). Instead, he said DMC should take the opportunity to address the problem and enforce regulations on product pricing.

On the ongoing controversy over a dispensary operating from a classroom at the Government Middle School (GMS) Midland, the DNSU president said an ultimatum was served on the state government, and DNSU had warned of charting its own course of action if the dispensary was not relocated by the next academic year.

Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union president Chumnran Humtsoe, and Dimapur Sümi Students’ Union president Okato Yeptho reaffirmed the DNSU’s commitment to standing by the decisions made in Monday’s meeting.

Resolutions on GMS Midland and MRP price tampering
DNSU during its presidential meeting held on November 25 adopted two resolution regarding GMS Midland Sub-Centre and MRP price tampering. The meeting was attended by representatives from all constituent units, during which the house unanimously supported the resolutions.

Resolution on GMS Midland: DNSU reiterated its call for the Health Sub-Centre at GMS Midland to be relocated to ensure the independent and smooth functioning of the school.
The house also decided to serve an ultimatum, directing the Health and Family Welfare department to vacate the dispensary premises before the next academic session.

In case of non-compliance, the house resolved that DNSU, in coordination with its constituent units, would take decisive measures, including shutting down dispensary rooms currently occupied by the department.

MRP and price tampering: DNSU condemned widespread malpractice by shopkeepers tampering with MRP and prices, stating that repeated appeals to authorities have yielded no significant action.

The union warned shopkeepers to stop unethical practices immediately and also urged locals and politicians to refrain from shielding offenders, as such actions perpetuate corruption.

DNSU appealed to the public to unite and support organizations striving to transform Dimapur and to collectively condemn corruption and unethical practices.
The resolution was signed by DNSU president Hinoto P.
