The two-day, post-harvest festival, Ngada Festival-cum Mini Hornbill 2024, of the Rengma community began on Wednesday at Rengma Sports Association (RSA) Ground, Tseminyu on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Special guest, Tseminyu DC Rohit Singh and APO vice president, Vikehelie Victor extended Ngada greetings, stressing cultural preservation and unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the inaugural event, the DC commended Ngada as the most important harvest festival of the Rengma Nagas, a time to celebrate the fruits of hard work and to honor the vital relationship between humans, nature, and the divine. He pointed out that Ngada is not merely a festival but a cultural cornerstone where various facets of Rengma heritage come alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The DC also elaborated on the diverse rituals and traditions observed during the festival, such as purification rites aimed at rejuvenating the spirit of the community and fostering social harmony. He also underscored the importance of preserving oral traditions, which serve as a living repository of the Rengma people\u2019s identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He expressed hope that Ngada would continue to attract tourists in the future, showcasing the unique and vibrant culture of the Rengmas on a broader platform. \u201cLet us celebrate this festival with the same grandeur in the coming years, ensuring that the legacy of our culture is passed on,\u201d Singh concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adding to the festive spirit, Vice President of the Angami Public Organisation (APO), Vikehelie Victor, extended greetings, not just to the Rengmas but to all Nagas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He remarked that while Nagas celebrate various festivals throughout the year, the shared enthusiasm and camaraderie among the Tenyimia brothers during such occasions underline the strength of unity among the communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Victor explained that Ngada, celebrated at the end of the agricultural season, symbolizes gratitude for a bountiful harvest and marks the beginning of a new cycle.
\u201cAs we celebrate, let us also hope for a year filled with good fortune, love, kindness, and the strength to overcome challenges,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He called on the people to use this occasion to reflect on their shared heritage and work towards greater harmony among the Nagas, particularly the Tenyimia clans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
