{"id":461830,"date":"2024-12-13T00:50:28","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T19:20:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.com\/?p=461830"},"modified":"2024-12-13T11:07:18","modified_gmt":"2024-12-13T05:37:18","slug":"anefwa-celebrates-50-yrs-of-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2024\/12\/13\/anefwa-celebrates-50-yrs-of-service\/","title":{"rendered":"ANEFWA celebrates 50 yrs of service"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association (ANEFWA) celebrated its golden jubilee at Electrical Colony, Full Nagarjan, Dimapur Tuesday on the theme \u201cEmpowering Lives through Electrical Excellence\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>In a press release, ANEFWA informed that the celebration began with the unveiling of monolith by Dr. Neisato Mero, MLA, on behalf of power minister, KG Kenye, who could not attend due to official engagements. The association stated that the monolith stood as a testament to ANEFWA\u2019s commitment to its motto, \u201cService to Light.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>In his message, Dr. Mero congratulated ANEFWA on its 50th anniversary and lauded the members for their 24&#215;7 dedication to maintaining and repairing power lines often under dangerous conditions. Quoting the adage \u201cService to Man is Service to God,\u201d he encouraged members to embrace this philosophy as their guiding principle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>He also shared personal experience of witnessing field worker tragically electrocuted while on duty and stressed the need for public awareness of the risk ANEFWA members faced. He appealed to the public to recognise sacrifices made by field workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>He also urged consumers to pay electricity bills on time to prevent shutdowns and power outages. Further, highlighting the strides in the power sector, Dr. Mero said that the concept of prepaid metering was introduced under the visionary initiative of chief minister, minister of power, and former ministers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>He said that prepaid system was aimed at enhancing efficiency, curbing electricity theft, and boosting revenue generation. In his speech, power department engineer-in-chief Wabanmeren Jamir described field workers as \u201cunsung heroes\u201d performing one of the most hazardous jobs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The engineer-in-chief urged the members not to compromise on safety measures. He also emphasised the crucial role of family support in their challenging work and encouraged the workers to express gratitude to their loved ones for their unwavering support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Earlier, in his welcome address, ANEFWA president, Vethinu Kezo, expressed gratitude to God and reflected on the association\u2019s journey. He shared how ANEFWA was established in 1974 to safeguard welfare of its members and also highlighted the hardships faced by field workers, including life threatening risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>A tribute was also paid to those who lost their lives in the line of duty by observing moment of silence. ANEFWA legal advisor Z. Jamir highlighted the challenges faced by its members, particularly those in lower grade positions.
