She believes in \u201cpeaceful dialogue\u201d to stop terrorism in the country and stated that terrorism is one of the biggest scourges that the country is being plagued with, Miss Northeast 2008 stated Saturday before being crowned.\n\u201cThis is the biggest problem that India and especially Northeast is facing. This problem can only be tackled through peaceful talks,\u201d Stuti Choudhury opined during Miss Northeast 2008 contest that brought the audience to rapturous cheers.
\nStuti was crowned Miss North East 2008 at a glittering pageantry at the Crinoline Swimming Pool late Saturday night.
\nStuti wore the tiara at the keenly contested pageant leaving behind a bevy of other contestants who took part in the event from all the eight Northeastern states.
\nStuti with the title also won a cash award of Rs. 50,000 together with other exotic gifts. Linthoi Devi from Manipur was adjudged the first runner up and cash award of Rs. 30,000 together with other gifts. Coming a close second was Layla Iarisa Kharkongor bagging Rs. 20,000 in her kitty and other gifts and Lalzamniani from Mizoram as the third runner up.
\nApart from being crowned Miss North East, Stuti was also adjudged as ‘Miss Cat Walk’ and ‘Miss Spontaneity’, while Kharkongor was adjudged \u2018Best Traditional Dress\u201d title.
\nPratima Devi from Manipur was adjudged ‘Miss Beautiful Hair’, Supriya Pradhan from Sikkim ‘Miss Photogenic’. Earlier, Stuti dazzled the audience with her poise in all through the rounds and equally matched her confidence with her intelligence. The audience was were also captivated by the other contestants\u2019 elegance.
\nWhen asked what she would be do to eradicate crime against women, Stuti said women should start working towards starting an NGO to stop crime against women.
\nThe colorful event also witnessed local heartthrob Felix performing solo guitar number with Mulfson of Snowhite fame. Others who performed included, Strive, a local dance troupe who mesmerized the crowd with their RnB freestyle dances.
