Two Nagaland players bagged category prizes at the 22nd edition of the North East Chess Championship 2024 which concluded on Sunday at Udaipur, Tripura. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bovito Yeptho from Satami village got second position in the under 1600 Rating Category, while Keyung Haikam from Gaili village got second position in the Unrated Category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the open category, Gurung Rahul from Sikkim became the champion with 8 points, while Abhrojyoti Nath from Assam got second position with 7.5 points and Oniya Nalo from Arunachal Pradesh got the third position with 7.5 points. Melesai Dwhuo from Chetheba Town with 6.5 points was placed at 21st position and Kevilekho Zumvu from Chiechama Village with 6.5 points was placed at 22nd position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other players from Nagaland according to the final rankings are: Seyiekhrietuo Mere, Salhuto Nyekha, Mengise Haikam, Vesho Doulo, Thopimi K Assumi, Jitihto Nyekha, S Litingse Sangtam, IIcicang Haikam, Akangzang Haikam, Irangtui, Marwapang, Intovi Awomi and Iloto Seb. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The championship was held for five days and senior national arbiter Vekukho Soho, also the honorary secretary of the Nagaland Chess Association officiated as arbiter along with others in the championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The winnings in Category Prizes as well as the good rankings secured by all the players of Nagaland in this championship are the major achievements for Nagaland Chess Association.
