Members of the business community of Dimapur staged a protest rally Monday against the abduction and brutal killing of businessman Prashanjit Dhar, who was murdered three days after his abduction.\nThe rally started at Holy Cross School junction point and traversed several areas including Marwari Patti, Dhobinallah, DC Court and Nagarjan.
\nLater, the business community under the aegis of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce (DCC) and Dimapur District Business Community along with representatives of Dimapur Municipal Council and other organizations held a joint meeting with the district administration and police at SP office.
\nHighlighting the fear psychosis that has gripped businessmen due to frequent incidents of abduction for ransom and extortion, DCC president Kasheto Yepthomi on behalf of the business community, demanded additional force of IRB personnel in Dimapur and that IRB jawans should be deployed every 200-300 metres in the town.
\nThe business community also served a one-month deadline to the administration to improve the security scenario in Dimapur.
\nPresident of Nagaland Medicine Dealers\u2019 Association (NMDA) Ato Yepthomi requested the administration and police to either set up a police outpost at Lhomithi colony, the colony from where late Prashanjit was abducted, or to post security personnel at both entrances to Lhomithi colony \u2013Sewak gate and Army Supply road.
\nAto also urged police to deploy women personnel during frisking to facilitate checking of female suspects.
\nDMC chairperson called upon all section of society to jointly fight against what he termed \u201cnew breed of anti-social elements\u201d in Dimapur.
\nBoth the administration and police assured to look into the demands and grievances of the business community.
