The biennial conference of the Chakhesang Catholic Association (CCA), under the theme, \u201cFight the Good Fight of Faith,\u201d was held at Holy Family Church, Pfutsero, on February 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a press release, CCA informed that the first session was graced by Parish Priest of Mary Help of Christian Cathedral Kohima, Rev. Fr. Vemedo Joseph Kezo, as the resource person. He delivered an insightful discourse on the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, with a special focus on Baptism, the Eucharist (Holy Communion), and Reconciliation (Confession). He emphasized \u2018Baptism\u2019 as the foundation of Christian life, marking the beginning of one\u2019s spiritual journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the Eucharist, he reaffirmed the Church\u2019s belief in transubstantiation\u2014the transformation of bread and wine into the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. He also underscored the importance of receiving the Eucharist with reverence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the Sacrament of Reconciliation, he highlighted the need for seeking God\u2019s mercy through confession and encouraged the faithful to embrace repentance, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The afternoon session featured a panel discussion on the topic \u201cTogether We Build and Nurture Our Parishes for Growth.\u201d The panellists included – deputy secretary, Home Department, Government of Nagaland, Neingulie Michael Krome; executive engineer, Water Resource Department, Er. Khrotso John Koza; social worker, entrepreneur and proprietor of Majestic Kapamodzu, Rekha Rose Dukru; and principal St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, Chumoukedima, Rev. Fr. Anthony Rozu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discussion was moderated by assistant professor at Government College, Pfutsero, Vina Anita Nukhu. The panellists shared their insights and knowledge on the topic, advocating for collective efforts to build and nurture parishes. They proposed several valuable suggestions and measures to strengthen the parishes and the churches under them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, the conference began with a prayer led by Rev. Fr. Cyprian Lobo S.J., the Ecclesiastical Assistant to the CCA. President of the CCA, Nuvesayi Edward Hoshi, addressed and welcomed the delegates from five parishes under the Phek district. Folk tunes were presented by St. Xavier\u2019s Church, Zhavame, and St. Mary\u2019s Church, Lozaphuhu, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The newly elected CCA team for the tenure 2025\u201327 was blessed and dedicated by Rev. Fr. Vemedo Joseph Kezo. The new team is led by Sulupoyi Sebastian as president, Veluhu Anthony, Wezotsonyi Thopi, Vetsutso Paul, Chasu Charles Krocha, and Zashehu James (representing the five parishes) as vice presidents, Zhovi Dukru as general secretary and other members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
