The 38th Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) meet commenced on Tuesday at Phek Town, with Minister for Power and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Nagaland KG Kenye, as the special guest. The event is hosted by PDSA in collaboration with the Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) which will conclude on February 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the event, Minister Kenye emphasized the significance of sports in pushing human limits and fostering excellence. He noted that sports provide a global platform for competition, with records being continuously challenged and improved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He highlighted Phek district\u2019s sporting potential but pointed out the lack of adequate infrastructure due to financial constraints. He stressed the need for better facilities and investment in sports to unlock the full potential of athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kenye also observed that excessive organizations in Naga society drain financial resources and called for prioritizing productive investments like sports, which can drive economic growth and employment. He further acknowledged the financial sacrifices made by parents to support young athletes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier, PDSA president Nezosa Tetseo introduced various trophies and acknowledged donors while highlighting the association\u2019s achievements. Medal winners at international, national, and Northeast levels were felicitated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The opening ceremony was led by general secretary Rupfuzo Puro, with an invocation by Rev. Dr. Thupucuyi Khesoh, a folk song by Nusakhol\u00fc Dawhuo and Tsuhveto Resuh, and the oath was administered by sports secretary of PDSA Punuru Nienu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CASA leads medal tally<\/strong>
On the opening day, Chozuba Area Sports Association (CASA) topped the medal tally with 15 medals (8 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze), followed by Chokri Area Games and Sports Association with 14 medals (6 gold, 7 silver, 1 bronze). Phek Area Sports Association stood third with 8 medals (2 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze), while Secheku Range Sports Association was at the bottom with 3 bronze medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
PDSA Naga Wrestling Championship culminates<\/strong>
Simultaneously, the 3rd Men & 1st Women Championship of Naga Wrestling of Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) was held on Tuesday at Phek Town with president VDB Union, Phek Block, Chizovoyi Soho gracing the championship by unfurling the Chakhesang Wrestling Association (CWA) flag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The winners were awarded with cash prizes sponsored by VDB Union, Phek Block, medals and citations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
