Kids as young as 11 years were seen standing in the sea of crowd with amusing and innovative names slips such as \u201cChandra Wati, s\/o Ghang Bahadur\u201d. Votes with a price tag and proxy votes are very common, confined not only to our state where half of the people do not go out to vote due to fear of violence besides other reasons. For some, it is time to earn some quick hard cash and roam around in vehicles.<br \/>\nThe enthusiastic ones were seen standing in the hot sun with the humidity adding to their woes. On asking about the reasons for voting for a particular party from voters, the answers were quite amusing and absurd; \u201cThey promised us Rs.300 per vote, I even did some proxy ones but they did not recognize me when I went to collect my money\u201d said one while it was the threat of getting thrown out from the village for others. In spite of all this, polling in and around Dimapur were rather peaceful with a few stray incidents here and there.<br \/>\nMost of the polling stations saw a balanced number of voters of both male and female except for the polling station number 19 at Government High School, Burma camp where the females defeated their counterparts in practicing their adult franchisee. According to Mhonthung, Polling Officer of Nagarjan 52 under Dimapur-I, the voters were not rowdy and surprisingly it was the females who were more aware of their rights and duties than males. Hope whichever parties come to power at the center fulfills their long standing demand of 33% reservation in the Parliament.<br \/>\nFinally, kudos to team administration led by DC and DEO, Dimapur, Maongwati Aier, SP Dimapur Liremo Lotha, Commandants\u2019 of IRB, Para military forces and all the Polling Officials who visited all the 10 polling stations under 3-Dimapur-III A\/C which were identified as critical or vulnerable to normalize the situation and also to encourage polling officials to perform their duties without any apprehension.<br \/>\nKOHIMA: The polling to the lone parliamentary seat which began at 7 am went off peacefully in all the polling stations under Southern Angami-I Northern Angami-I, Northern Angami II, 8 &#8211; Western Angami A\/C, 9th Kohima Town A\/C and Southern Angami-II constituency where voters, both young and old, exercised their franchise. The Presiding Officers at Kigwema, Phesama and Chotobasti said the voters produced ration cards, electric bills, water bill, students ID cards etc for identification while casting their votes. Voters turned out in large numbers in all the respective polling stations. About 80% to 90% cast their votes in Thursday\u2019s election. The total number of voters under 9th Kohima Town A\/C was 37,609, out of which the male voters constitute 19,548 and women voters include 18,061 as per the latest Intensive Revision 2005 integrated with all revision preceding Special Summery Revision, 2009.<br \/>\nMOKOKCHUNG: Polling in Mokokchung district Thursday passed off peacefully. Polling was held in 198 polling stations with no report of any poll-related incident from any corner. Leaving nothing to chance, district administration had placed 11 companies of police personnel on polling duty besides about 400 police personnel were deployed in the district to deal with any eventuality during the polling. Moderate to heavy polling was reported from different parts of the district.<br \/>\nK. Asungba Sangtam, the INC candidate, who is seeking re-election cast his vote at first hour along with his family members in Polling Station-II at Salangtem Ward in Mokokchung town. Office of the Assistant Returning Officer revealed that 76.4 percent of polling was reported till 2 p.m. Polling parties from their respective poling stations are expected to reach later in the evening.<br \/>\nTUENSANG: Nearly 60% voters turnout for the parliamentary and by-elections at 54 A\/C Tuensang Sadar-II in Tuensang district. Altogether, 169 polling stations for seven assembly constituency exercised their franchise in Tuensang that included, 51 A\/C-Noksen, 52 A\/C-Longkhim Chare, 53 A\/C-Tuensang Sadar-I, 54 A\/C Tuensang Sadar-II, 56 A\/C Noklak, 57 A\/C Thonoknyu and 58 A\/C Shamator Chessore.<br \/>\nAccording to sources, minor scuffle took place in some polling stations. However, security forces brought them under control. Talking to this reporter, SDO(C) and ARO 54 A\/C Tuensang Sadar-II, Abhishek Prakash, IAS, said the situation was peaceful all over the polling stations under Tuensang district. He also visited Hakchang Village in order to view the situation. However, the situation was peaceful and no untoward incident was reported till the time of filling of this report.<br \/>\nWOKHA: Polling in and around Wokha towns including 37 Tyui A\/C, 39 Sanis A\/C and 40 Bhandari A\/C started peacefully for the 15th Lok Sabha election. No instances of disturbances or untoward incidents were reported from anywhere in the district tills the close of polling i.e. 4 p.m. on 16th April 2009.<br \/>\nAccording to the District Administration it was learnt that under 37 Tyui A\/C in Selekhu village polling was disrupted for few minutes by some group but was soon resumed. In another incident at Pangti Polling Station 3 under 39 Sanis A\/C, voting was stopped for some time due to the failure of battery in the EVM. However a new EVM was immediately put in place and polling was resumed. The polling which was by and large peaceful saw hordes of voters coming out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.<br \/>\nPFUSEROMI  VILLAGE: With the rest of the State, polling for lone Lok Sabha seat at Pfuseromi village, Phek district started at 7a.m. Votes cast by 10 a.m. was 45%.<br \/>\nMANGKOLEMBA: Polling conducted smoothly at Mangkolemba and its jurisdiction. No untoward incident reported till the time of sending this report. Polling completed as scheduled.<br \/>\nBHANDAR : Lok Sabha election at Bhandari division was conducted peacefully.
