Nagaland Pencak Silat Association (NPSA) is set to host the ASMITA Khelo India Pencak Silat Women\u2019s League, North East Zone on March 17 and 18 at DBC Indoor Stadium, Oriental Colony, Dimapur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This prestigious event is supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and supervised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) which aims to promote women\u2019s participation in sports and identify promising talent in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Around 500 female athletes from across the North Eastern States will compete in various categories, including Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior divisions in both combat and artistic events. The artistic events will feature Tunggal (Single), Creative Solo (Single), Ganda (Dual) and Regu (Team) performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The winners will be awarded cash prizes by the Sports Ministry, with Gold medallists receiving Rs. 6000\/-, Silver medallists Rs. 4000\/-, and Bronze medallists Rs. 2000\/- in all events. Additionally, all Gold medallists will earn the opportunity to represent their state in the upcoming Khelo India National Pencak Silat Women\u2019s League 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Khelo India initiative, launched by the Government of India, is a flagship programme aimed at fostering a sporting culture in the country by identifying and supporting young athletes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It provides financial assistance, infrastructure and coaching to talented individuals across various sports disciplines in collaboration with Sports Authority of India (SAI), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It plays a crucial role in implementing sports policies, nurturing talent and organizing events like the Khelo India Youth Games, University Games and Leagues to promote grassroots sports development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a part of this initiative, the Indian Pencak Silat Federation (IPSF) recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India has been given the opportunity to host Pencak Silat competitions in five different zones across India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This move is aimed at providing a structured platform for Pencak Silat Athletes from different regions to showcase their talent and further strengthen India\u2019s presence in the International Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the ASMITA Khelo India Pencak Silat Women\u2019s League, the focus is on empowering female athletes, providing them with a national platform and encouraging participation in martial arts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
