\nReacting to the news item, NPF youth wing secretary, Nzanbemo, in a press release stated that \u2018Polygamy\u2019 in context of \u2018history and present\u2019 was neither a Christian practice nor a non-Christian ethic but a reality that one see in few individuals out of their desire to do so despite opposition from various quarters.
\nThe youth wing while stating that DCC Wokha was accusing Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, of endorsing polygamy does not arise just because he was defending C.M Chang, consensus candidate of NPF for the ensuing parliamentary election, added that Chang who may or may not be a \u2018polygamous\u2019 husband though he has divorced and married another as Chang union had clarified through a local daily on April 14.
\nStating that what the chief minister meant was to stress the \u2018trust\u2019 in the ability of the NPF candidate to deliver goods to the people and not \u2018picker\u2019 on a candidates\u2019 personal family, the youth wing felt that the Congress party has no more issue to take to the people except such \u2018silly and sly\u2019 tactics by personal attacks to divert the minds of the people from main issues including development that they could not achieve during their decade rule of the state.
\nOn the accusation of DCC, Wokha, that Rio was \u2018communalist\u2019, the NPF youth wing said the DCC was the one who was trying to \u2018communalized\u2019 the non issue into a religious issue by calling upon the Church, NGOs, Mother\u2019s Association and students to condemned the statement of the chief minister but on the contrary, Rio, who very well knows about the stand of Church had said nothing about the Church in his campaign at Pughoboto on April 11 for his party\u2019s candidature but simply restated the \u2018polygamous practice that one sees amongst Naga tribes.
\nFurther, on the allegation against the chief minister as \u2018endorsing headhunting and gun culture, corruption, favouritism, nepotism and polygamy\u2019, the NPF youth wing said it was nothing but an \u2018expression\u2019 of frustration suffered by ranks and files of Congress workers as they find that their party\u2019s (Congress) hope of coming to power has gone.
\nIt further appealed all NPF workers and its allies not to be swayed by such allegations but to work harder for the party\u2019s candidate, who is sure to win the ensuing parliamentary election.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
