St. Mary’s Cathedral School Lerie, Kohima celebrated its “parents day cum annual day 2008” on October 25 with Dr. Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire, MLA and chairman of Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board (NKVIB) and Rt. Rev. Jose Mukala, Bishop of Kohima as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.\nAddressing the august gathering, Dr. Nicky Kire emphasized on the role of parents into molding their children as future responsible citizen in the society.
\n“Don’t leave responsibility of a parent to teachers alone but have equal responsibilities of the ward in school” he said.
\n“Parents should have devotion to children and be supportive” he commented.
\nWhile expounding the ‘important role’ of teachers, he also urged them to be role models as influence of teachers are ‘immense’.
\nExtorting the students he said, “If you want be a leader, you should first learn to obey”.
\nThe chief guest also expressed his concerned over the anti-Christians violence in various parts in the Country and shared his sympathy to the victims.
\nGuest of Honour, Rt. Rev. Bishop Jose Mukala expressed his happiness over the huge response of parents’ who attended the programme and appealed them to be supportive in future activities in the school.
\nHe also expressed his appreciation to the school authorities, staffs, parents and colony leaders for the contribution to the school and students, as an institution need the support and cooperation of the Government, staff and parents he added. Earlier, the programme began with a word from Rev. Fr. George Antony, principal of the school, report of school by Rev. Sr. Ancy, head mistress of the school, a word from PTA by Teisovilie, vice president, PTA and vote of thanks by Rev. Sr. Alphonsa.
