{"id":47478,"date":"2009-05-16T00:10:15","date_gmt":"2009-05-16T00:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/151.106.38.4\/2009\/05\/16\/lalthara-exhort-students-at-sasrd-15th-parting-social-in-medziphema\/"},"modified":"2009-05-16T00:10:15","modified_gmt":"2009-05-16T00:10:15","slug":"lalthara-exhort-students-at-sasrd-15th-parting-social-in-medziphema","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2009\/05\/16\/lalthara-exhort-students-at-sasrd-15th-parting-social-in-medziphema\/","title":{"rendered":"Lalthara exhort students at SASRD 15th parting social in Medziphema"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\/old_site\/>School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD), Nagaland University held its 15th parting social on Friday with chief secretary, Government of Nagaland Lalthara as chief guest.<br \/>\nSpeaking on the occasion, Lalthara reiterated chief minister Neiphiu Rio\u2019s statement of setting up quality educational institutes in the state to stop the trend of students opting to go elsewhere for higher studies and also help in retention of expenses from the state.<br \/>\nLalthara spoke to the students about the importance of preserving nature and the ways and means to build a career out of agricultural studies. While stating that the fertile soil and favorable climate made agriculture one of the state\u2019s biggest assets, he also advised the students to use their agricultural knowledge to acquire the best out of the land.<br \/>\nThe chief secretary further said that even though the traditional method of agriculture has been in use for a long time, the method was not good enough and asked the students to help better the system and show the way towards upliftment of agricultural method in the state.<br \/>\nStating that farming was an honorable profession, Lalthara said that if given a determined effort, educated people could lead the way towards better farming,  hence agriculture would be a fulfilling career.<br \/>\nSpeaking on global warming, Lalthara affirmed that agriculture and horticulture being the main stay in the state would help greatly in reducing the effects of global warming.<br \/>\nStating that gravity was a way of nature calling us to come closer to the earth, Lalthara urged the students to turn to nature in solving many of the modern day problems faced by the world.<br \/>\nSASRD Dean, Imnayongdang ,while exhorting the graduating students advised them to struggle and work hard and to acquire quality education so as to generate employment opportunities in the agricultural sector.<br \/>\nEarlier, the programme started with invocation by Allan, SASRD Students\u2019 Union vice president, who gave the welcome address. Special songs were performed by the students and the vote of thanks was given by SASRD Students\u2019 Union general secretary.
