Naga Students\u2019 Federation (NSF) has resolved to constitute Inner Line Regulation Commission (ILRC), which it said stemmed from an urgent need to counter the \u201cunabated inflow of illegal immigrants into our homeland\u201d, an existential threat that has endangered Naga identity, culture, and territorial rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a press release, president Medovi Rhi and general secretary Chumben Khuvung informed that \u201cthis extraordinary decision\u201d was taken during the 4th NSF Federal Assembly held on December 4, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this regard, NSF has appointed Senchumo NSN Lotha as the chairman of the ILRC along four other members including Kelhouniezo Yhome, Hukavi Tokheho Yepthomi, Imtiakum and Seve R. Vadeo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The federation stated that ILRC would review and strengthen existing regulatory measures, monitor, assess, and propose urgent legal and administrative reforms to fortify the protective barriers against this growing threat in close coordination with all stakeholders and civil organizations to build a robust resistance against illegal settlements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NSF asserted that the \u201cunregulated influx of illegal immigrants\u201d has reached a crisis level, threatening the demographic balance, cultural heritage, and security of the Nagas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NSF said \u201cthis silent invasion\u201d has far-reaching consequences; economic exploitation, land alienation, and political subversion, which would irreversibly alter the future of Naga people if left unchecked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NSF said that the Inner Line Pass (ILP) was enacted more than 150 years ago to protect and preserve the indigenous communities of Nagas\u2019 land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, it said that years of political apathy and administrative failures have allowed illegal immigrants to exploit loopholes, settle unlawfully, and infiltrate Naga homeland, pushing the Nagas to the brink of demographic subjugation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
