{"id":481502,"date":"2025-04-14T02:03:46","date_gmt":"2025-04-13T20:33:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.com\/?p=481502"},"modified":"2025-04-14T15:09:51","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T09:39:51","slug":"nusu-l-opposes-regularization-of-contractual-assistant-professors-without-npsc-exam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2025\/04\/14\/nusu-l-opposes-regularization-of-contractual-assistant-professors-without-npsc-exam\/","title":{"rendered":"NUSU-L opposes regularization of contractual assistant professors without NPSC exam"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Nagaland University Students\u2019 Union, Lumami (NUSU-L) has expressed strong opposition to the recent decision by the department of Higher Education, to regularize contractual assistant professors without competitive exams through the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>In a press release, NUSU-L president Imtiwapong S and general secretary Nzanthung A Murry stated that the move was carried out despite ongoing legal proceedings and public opposition, and described it as a direct violation of transparency, meritocracy, and equal opportunity in the state\u2019s education system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The student body highlighted that the decision undermines the efforts of NET and Ph.D. holders, who have met national academic benchmarks but are now systemically excluded due to the non-merit-based appointments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>NUSU-L criticized the government for setting a dangerous precedent, stating that such actions are regressive at a time when the state\u2019s higher education system should be moving toward greater transparency and quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The union affirmed its solidarity with the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNQF), Dimapur Naga Students\u2019 Union (DNSU), and other student and civil society organizations opposing the move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\u201cWe reaffirm our commitment to defending the rights of students and ensuring that education in Nagaland remains a space where merit, not influence, determines opportunity,\u201d said NUSU-L.
