{"id":485086,"date":"2025-05-01T02:07:24","date_gmt":"2025-04-30T20:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.com\/?p=485086"},"modified":"2025-05-01T16:31:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-01T11:01:18","slug":"nsdma-oscar-make-breakthrough-in-disaster-communication","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2025\/05\/01\/nsdma-oscar-make-breakthrough-in-disaster-communication\/","title":{"rendered":"NSDMA, OSCAR make breakthrough in disaster communication"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a major technological milestone, the <strong>Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority<\/strong> (NSDMA), in collaboration with OSCAR India, demonstrated wireless image transmission via radio signals without internet connectivity\u2014the first such achievement in Northeast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to DIPR, the demonstration took place during the second-phase training program for NSDMA from April 24-29, 2025, highlighting their leadership in alternative communication technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While OSCAR India has previously conducted similar experiments across India, this demonstration is particularly significant due to Northeast India\u2019s challenging terrain. The training program equipped NSDMA\u2019s District Project Associates (DPAs) with critical skills, including: practical morse code applications, hands-on antenna construction workshops, where participants built antennas for amateur radio operations and a comprehensive mock fire rescue drill using amateur radio communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acknowledging the success of the initiative, the Wireless Planning &amp; Coordination (WPC) Wing, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications assigned the special call sign \u201cAT2NE\u201d\u2014the first-ever designation for an amateur radio expedition in Kohima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Nilkantha Chatterjee, Convenor of OSCAR India, emphasized the importance of the demonstration, highlighting proves radio\u2019s vital role when modern networks fail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Meanwhile, a debriefing session at NSDMA Conference Hall was chaired by Rendemo Shitio, Assistant Manager (Response &amp; Communication), NSDMA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Khrolou Koza Lohe, Assistant Manager (Training &amp; Education), NSDMA, and Temsuwangshi Jamir, Assistant Manager (Research &amp; Planning), NSDMA, shared their experiences from the drill, followed by remarks from Nilkantha Chatterjee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Johnny Ruangmei, Joint Chief Executive Officer (Jt. CEO), NSDMA, delivered the closing remarks, stating that professionals in Disaster Management should operate on a mission mode, not just as a professional career.
