The event aimed to enhance cooperation for integrated livestock development in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>According to a <strong>DIPR <\/strong>report, the meeting brought together senior officials from the Directorate and nine scientists from ICAR-NRC Mithun, led by its Director, Dr. Girish Patel. Chaired by additional director and Head of Department (HoD), Dr. B.M. Sunep, discussions emphasized the ecological significance of Nagaland\u2019s indigenous Thotho cattle breed. Dr. Sunep highlighted the need to change farmers\u2019 attitudes toward livestock farming, urging them to focus on both milk and meat production to maximize economic benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Girish Patel delivered an extensive presentation on Mithun rearing practices in the North Eastern Region (NER), with a particular focus on Nagaland\u2019s agro-ecological importance. He stressed the role of Mithun in sustaining tribal livelihoods, culture, and agro-ecology, alongside preservation efforts for Thotho cattle. Patel also suggested advanced research areas, including artificial insemination and semen collection techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Both ICAR-NRCM and AH&amp;VS reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration through joint initiatives, resource-sharing, capacity building, and research-driven livestock practices.
