The Hemophilia Society Nagaland Chapter (HSNC) marked a significant healthcare milestone in the state by observing World Hemophilia Day alongside a thanksgiving programme at District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the occasion, Hemophilia Society Nagaland Chapter president Rhonthungo Ezung announced that Nagaland has achieved \u201cGreen Zone\u201d status on the Hemophilia Federation of India (HFI) map for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the achievement signified the presence of a government-supported Hemophilia Treatment Centre (HTC) in the state. He said the development was only the beginning of a long journey toward ensuring a quality life and improved care for Persons With Hemophilia (PWH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rhonthungo therefore urged government authorities, policymakers, bureaucrats, doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers to sustain their support and services for PWH in the future. He also noted that, to date, Nagaland has registered 14 hemophilia patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on the theme \u201cAccess for All: Women and Girls Bleed Too\u201d, Rhonthungo highlighted the urgent need for better diagnostics and treatment for women and girls with bleeding disorders, who often go underdiagnosed and underserved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that while the event was celebrated belatedly, it served as a platform to reinforce the theme while recognizing the tireless efforts of healthcare professionals, government of Nagaland, Department of Health & Family Welfare, and National Health Mission (NHM) Nagaland in advancing hemophilia care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Short speeches were delivered by HTC in-charge Dr. Obed, District Hospital Dimapur Blood Bank in-charge Dr. Rongsen, and physiotherapist Dr. Taitula Longkumer (MPT Neurology, DHD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They stressed the importance of raising public awareness and education on hemophilia to create a more inclusive and supportive environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
