A solemn thanksgiving holy mass was celebrated at St. Mary\u2019s Church, Anatongre Village, on Sunday in honor of Rev. Sr. Catherine Tsumongshe, UFS\u2014the first religious nun from the village and the second from the Tikhir tribe to be professed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Rev. Fr. Philip Magh, Parish Priest of St. Peter\u2019s Parish, Kiphire, officiated the Holy Mass, concelebrated by eight priests from various parishes and centers. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including delegates from neighboring villages, catechists, public leaders, village chairman, and other official representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Born to Yutsumong Joseph and Yangchola, Sr. Catherine is the fifth among six siblings. After completing her schooling at Loyola Hr. Sec. School, Kiphire, she joined the Ursuline Franciscan Congregation in 2019. Following years of formation, including her Pre-Novitiate in 2022 and Novitiate in 2023, she embraced religious life wholeheartedly, guided by her motto: \u201cTo love Jesus and do everything for His Glory\u201d (cf. Isaiah 43:4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his reflection, Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu drew inspiration from John\u2019s Gospel (21:6), emphasizing Sr. Catherine\u2019s divine calling and commitment to mission work. He described her journey as a blessing to her family, tribe, and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an interview, Sr. Catherine expressed joy and gratitude for the love and support she has received, sharing her belief that prayer will be her greatest strength in fulfilling her vocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The celebration featured a heartfelt felicitation program, guided by Madam Maria, with remarks from various dignitaries, including Catechist of St. Mary\u2019s Church, Edward Yangthong; vice principal of St. Joseph\u2019s College Autonomous, Jakhama, Dr. Fr. Obed Yimchunger; and Church Secretary of St. Peter\u2019s Church Kiphire, Thomas Kiumusu. The Catholic Women Association choir enriched the event with melodious hymns, and guests joined in a congratulatory song and a cake-cutting ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
