A two-day orientation and review programme for Assistant District Coordinators (ADCs) and Education Block Resource Centre (EBRC) Coordinators under Samagra Shiksha Nagaland commenced on Tuesday at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) conference hall in Kohima. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme aims to strengthen the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and evaluate district and block-level progress in foundational learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was graced by the State Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, L. Jamithung Lotha, who highlighted the key objectives of NEP 2020, including holistic development, experiential learning, and a multidisciplinary approach to education. He emphasized fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students while integrating digital technologies and empowering teachers in education delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lotha noted that Samagra Shiksha, as an integrated scheme, is working towards achieving equitable, inclusive, and quality education from the foundational to secondary stages. Expressing satisfaction with the progress made in the foundational stage, he informed participants that Nagaland had initiated child-wise tracking for government schools from Pre-primary to Grade 2 during the 2024\u201325 academic session, assessing 52,094 students for grade-appropriate competencies. While 20% of students achieved the \u201cProficient\u201d level, the majority remained in the \u201cBeginner\u201d and \u201cDeveloping\u201d stages. He urged coordinators to intensify efforts to ensure all children meet the desired learning outcomes by the end of the academic year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lotha also reminded participants of the urgency to achieve foundational literacy and numeracy targets set by the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) Bharat Mission, which seeks to ensure proficiency in children aged 3 to 8 by 2026\u201327. With only a year left, he stressed the need for consistent monitoring and strengthened district- and block-level support systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deputy Mission Director Kelhikha Kenye reiterated the crucial role of ADCs and EBRC Coordinators, calling them \u201cthe engines of implementation\u201d for interventions under the Samagra Shiksha scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He informed attendees that 2025 would be a year of self-assessment and perfection, as the Government of India evaluates the scheme\u2019s impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The programme also showcased BEACON (Budding ECCE Academy for Children of Nagaland) Schools, a new initiative recognizing outstanding government schools in the foundational stage. Lotha emphasized the importance of accurate data reporting via UDISE for effective planning and implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
