{"id":486307,"date":"2025-05-08T02:28:46","date_gmt":"2025-05-07T20:58:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.com\/?p=486307"},"modified":"2025-05-08T02:28:48","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T20:58:48","slug":"operation-abhyaas-mock-drill-held-across-10-districts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nagalandpost.net\/index.php\/2025\/05\/08\/operation-abhyaas-mock-drill-held-across-10-districts\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Operation Abhyaas\u2019 mock drill held across 10 districts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As per the Ministry of Home Affairs\u2019 (MHA) directive, a mega civil defence exercise and rehearsal was staged across the state\u2019s 10 districts \u2014 Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mon, Phek, Tuensang, Kiphire, and Peren \u2014 on Wednesday under the operation code named \u201cOperation Abhyaas\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The deputy commissioner\u2019s (DC) office complex here was made the staging area, while Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Duncan was designated as the temporary hospital, and District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) project director premises as the designated air raid affected area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>A mock drill simulating an air raid scenario was conducted at the designated site (DRDA premises) where the District Fire and Emergency Services, in coordination with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), promptly responded to the simulated crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The teams successfully rescued 27 people, of which seven people received minor injuries and three were critically injured. The injured were then transported to the UPHC Duncan for medical attention, where temporary office was set up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>At the UPHC Duncan, a temporary hospital and mobile medical aid unit were set up to respond to the disaster. As part of the exercise, ambulances brought in the mock patients from the disaster site, whereby, upon arrival, doctors and nurses assessed each patient to understand how urgently they needed help and what treatments were required, and provided necessary medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Addressing a gathering of personnel from various departments, including SDRF, Civil Defence and Home Guards, Police, etc, after the mock drill, DC Dimapur Dr Tinojongshi Chang urged all to be prepared as no one knew when disaster would strike. He stressed that all should be prepared and aware so that Incident Response System could be carried out effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Later, addressing the media, he claimed that the mock drill was a success, adding that all officers, heads of departments, personnel of the Police, Civil Defense and Home Guards, etc, initiated the rescue operation successfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Asked whether the Army or Assam Rifles were informed to partake in the mock drill, he replied that though the Assam Rifles were informed of the drill, the paramilitary force could not turn up due to some prior engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Regarding the escalation of price of essential commodities amidst rising tensions between India and Pakistan, he Chang said the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) would monitor the prices, and that a meeting would be held accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Dwelling on fake news, he urged the public to seek clarifications and not trust everything that was put up in social media. It may be noted that a \u201cBlack out Measure\u201d was also carried out in Dimapur at 6:30 pm during which the entire district experienced black out for two minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Earlier, Chang held a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) at the DC Conference Hall here to discuss the mock drill to be carried out as per the directive of the MHA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>KOHIMA: As part of the Statewide Mock Exercise held across Nagaland on May 7, Kohima district conducted a coordinated air raid precaution drill aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and strengthening public awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The exercise was led by Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem and Superintendent of Police Teisovise Metha, and involved active participation from multiple departments under the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The mock drill began with the sounding of the first siren at 4.30 p.m., signaling the start of various simulated emergency operations.
