Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) Saturday decided to call off its proposed agitation after state government reportedly expressed regret over issuing the transfer and posting notification on April 13, 2025, which was Palm Sunday\u2014a holy day observed by Christians around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Acknowledging the response received from the state government, NPCC through its communications department said the government claimed that the action was not intentional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, NPCC reminded the authorities that such lapses showed a serious lack of awareness and sensitivity towards the religious and cultural sentiments of the people of Nagaland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn light of this development, we have resolved to call off our proposed agitation,\u201d NPCC said and appealed to the government to be more careful in the future and ensure that no official notifications or administrative actions were issued on days of religious importance, including Sundays. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
NPCC said that any exercise that could potentially infringe on the religious beliefs and cultural practices of the people should be undertaken with a nuanced approach, and any deviation\u2014even if expressly stated to be unintentional\u2014was unacceptable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It alleged that this incident was \u201ca page out of the BJP\u2019s playbook, the one championing the dismantlement of the secular fabric of our Constitution by a thousand paper cuts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
