DIMAPUR: Northern Angami Students\u2019 Union (NASU) on August 13 organised a mass cleanliness drive in Kohima with an aim to keep Kohima city clean, hygiene and healthy.
In a press release, NASU media cell informed that as part of its annual sanitation drive, student volunteers cleaned the stretch from Dz\u00fcv\u00fcr\u00fc bridge to Sanuor\u00fc bridge.
The drive which saw participation from a total of 349 students from 18 villages was also aimed at fostering students to keep the environment clean, NASU informed.
NASU president Aneizo Keditsu said that as students comprised a large number of the population across the state, some simple steps they took could play a major role in cleanliness.
He cited how students could also educate the people around them about the use of dustbins whenever they see someone littering.
Aneizo Keditsu acknowledged the volunteers, most of whom, he said, came all the way from their respective villages to be a part of the cleanliness drive.
He also expressed gratitude to the KMC administrator and her team for providing dumping trucks to collect garbage.
Meanwhile, Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) administrator Lanusenla Longkumer who launched the drive lauded the student body for the initiative.
She said that all citizens must learn to make cleanliness a way of life and challenged the students to follow a sustainable lifestyle.
