Tovihoto Ayemi, on Monday informed that the state government is currently reviewing the reservation policy, which has remained unchanged for over five decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Tovihoto made the statement while inaugurating the Walford and East Block Road at Ward 4 in Dimapur. He was of the view that such policies should ideally undergo a review every ten years to ensure fairness and relevance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>His comment also comes in the backdrop of a 30-day ultimatum recently submitted by five tribes&#8211; Ao, Lotha, Sumi, Angami, and Rengma\u2014demanding an urgent revision of the reservation policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Addressing the gathering, Tovihoto also expressed satisfaction over the completion of the long-awaited road project. The newly constructed roads, covering a length of over 1500 metres and a width of 16.5 feet, were executed under the department of Tribal Affairs grants under Article 275(1) of the Indian Constitution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>He acknowledged the contribution of multiple departments, including National Highways (NH), PWD (R&amp;B), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and Urban Development, for their coordinated efforts in improving infrastructure in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Reiterating his commitment to community development, the advisor noted that while it may not be possible to meet all individual expectations, the overarching goal was sustained progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>He further urged a reassessment of the roles of traditional institutions&#8211; such as Gaon Buras (GBs) and village councils\u2014especially in the context of Dimapur\u2019s evolving urban setup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Calling for greater unity, Tovihoto encouraged local leaders and stakeholders to set an example for inclusive and responsible growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>The inaugural program was chaired by Central Colony Walford (CCW) chairman Kato Yeptho, dedicatory prayer by CCW advisor Rev. Moses Murry. Other speakers included DUCCF president Zasivikho Zakiesato, CCW advisor Zulu Oz\u00fck\u00fcm, and GB of East Block Rangum Hau. The event concluded with a benediction from Rev.
