Tom Quinn, founder and CEO of U.S. indie distribution and production house Neon, will be honored with the Game Changer Award at the Zurich Summit, which takes place on Sept. 27, running as part of the 21st Zurich Film Festival. Quinn\u2019s slate includes Joachim Trier\u2019s Cannes frontrunner \u201cSentimental Value.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The award \u201cpays tribute to excellence in the film business with a focus on leaders who cherish change and forward-thinking approaches in the business,\u201d the festival said. Neon, which Quinn set up in 2017, has \u2013 in just eight years \u2013 won 39 Academy Award nominations, 11 wins, including two best picture wins, and has grossed over $400 million at the box office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its films include Sean Baker\u2019s \u201cAnora,\u201d which took home five Academy Awards including best picture, and was released in theaters to the highest per-screen average of 2024; as well as Bong Joon Ho\u2019s \u201cParasite,\u201d which won four Academy Awards, becoming the first non-English-language film to claim best picture, and grossed over $54 million at the U.S. box office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Cannes this year, Neon premiered Joachim Trier\u2019s \u201cSentimental Value\u201d and Julia Ducournau\u2019s \u201cAlpha,\u201d as well as Raoul Peck\u2019s \u201cOrwell: 2+2=5\u201d and Michael Angelo Covino\u2019s \u201cSplitsville,\u201d starring Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona, which Neon also produced. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
